Skaterham provides subsidised services for young people in the Caterham area by providing alternative activities that encourage them to keep off the streets and out of trouble. The project operates a skate park and other activities such as arts and crafts, a drop-in, a DJ booth and day trips. Skaterham provides a safe and secure place where young people learn valuable life skills such as leadership, cooperation and teamwork. No one is excluded and the facility attracts about sixty young people each evening who clearly gain great benefit from the experience.

HSYA was pleased to be able to make a grant towards the cost of taking fifteen young people on a residential trip in August 2016. The award enabled Skaterham to complete the project and offer a subsidy to specific, most deserving and potentially vulnerable young people, some of whom were considered to be most at risk and therefore in greater need of support.
