Longmeadz Kickn engages young people aged 10-18 years on the Longmead Estate in Epsom through football and dance and, in the process, helps build a safer community and reduces crime and anti-social behaviour. The HSYA has awarded a series of grants in past years to support this laudable sports social inclusion project, which works with partners including Surrey Police and Epsom and Ewell Council to target up to 100 young people. The project engages the young people on two nights a week and also gives them the opportunity to complete accreditations and qualifications, and to represent their areas in matches and tournaments. “With my theme of getting young people into sports, I attended one of the Longmeadz Kickn football sessions and was impressed by how well attended it was and how effectively the young people were engaged,” says Peter Lee.
