Guildford City Boxing Club is Surrey’s oldest boxing club and is managed by an inspirational coach, John Edwards. The Club provides opportunities to help young people to develop their self-discipline, physical and mental wellbeing, a positive attitude towards themselves and others, and a strong community spirit. Excellent coaching and support has resulted in many champions emerging from this club. In 2014 the club moved to new premises in Park Barn which has very good facilities. The change of venue has had an immense impact on existing members and has resulted in many new young members being introduced. Three members are part of GB Boxing, heading for Rio in 2016. A proactive management and coaching team ensures young people get the very best training and support.

Peter Lee, High Sheriff, visited the Club and reported afterwards that “I watched the young people train, spa, compete and work out and could see what they were getting out of the experience. It also helps them keep out of trouble. I am pleased to report that boxing is thriving in Surrey with over 24 clubs in the county.”
